A Review of Trial By Fire by Josephine Angelini

Image
Hi guys! I'm back with a review of Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini. This book was actually lended to me by my best friend Jordan, however I put off reading it due to college and other things going on. Anyways, Jordan and I took turns reading the Goddess series by Josephine Angelini a few years back and heavily enjoyed her writing, so I was sure this book was going to reel me in like her other books have. So overall I give this book a 5/5 :) I loved it. In the book Lily proctor, who is allergic to everything finds herself in a world much different from her own. Her allergies and constant fever are something in this world that makes her a Witch and gives her the potential to be a very powerful individual and face off against the tyrant Lillian, this worlds version of Lily. I related to Lily a lot, but I also really enjoyed Lillian. Although everyone in the book despises Lillian for some of the things she does, I actually really enjoy her character and look forward to more ...

A Review of Dark Souls by Paula Morris

Image
(Cover of Dark Souls by Paula Morris) I apologize for taking so long to review another book. Typically it doesn't take me this long to read through and review a book, however I work and go to school a lot, and this book was really REALLY bad (at least to me anyways). I gave this book a rating of 1.5/5. My boyfriend and I were browsing at a nice little used bookstore a few weeks back when I picked this book up. My boyfriend, Danny, was joking about the title because Dark Souls 3 is his all time favorite videogame ever. So I took the book and read the synopsis on the back, and it seemed interesting so I figured "This should be a good read". Boy was I ever wrong. So essentially the book is about a girl named Miranda, who after her best friend died, can now see ghosts. Her family takes a vacation to York, and Miranda meets a boy named Nick, who she develops feelings for, and the two go on a mystery/paranormal journey. First off, the romance that takes place in a ...

A Book Review of Shutter by Courtney Alemeda

(Cover of Shutter by Courtney Alemeda) Book Review by Hali Paige. Final Review: 3.5/5 Oh gosh, where do I begin? I'll start off as saying I will (attempt) to make this book as spoiler free as possible, since this is my first "official" book review, I don't know how well I'll manage not letting anything leak. The book centers around Micheline Helsing, a descendant of the famous Van Helsing, she has lived her whole life fighting demons and ghosts alongside her team, Ryder, Oliver, and Jude. Micheline is what this book calls a "tetrachromat", which is someone who can see the auras of ghosts on the color spectrum. Ryder, her teammate and love interest, is a Reaper, who is someone who is trained to kill ghosts, mainly with special op guns. Oliver is the scientist of the group, he typically doesn't do the actual fighting, but sits back and plans the teams moves. He also works as a scientist in the Corps lab. Last but certainly not least is Jude, who...

A Newbie

Hi guys! I created this post as my first post so I could formally introduce myself to the community and who I am and such.  For starters, my name is Hali, many people refer to me as Pixie from my Cosplay page I ran once upon a time and from my Playstation Gamer Tag. So you can call me either of those if you wish! :) Oh yeah, did I mention I cosplay? I'll attach a picture down below, but yes I occasionally make cosplays and go to local conventions around my area.  (My D.va cosplay I were last year at Fanboy Expo, it was super hot outside and I was miserably sweating lol). Cosplay used to be a very huge part of my life, up until a few weeks ago I ran an instagram page to showcase all the work that I had done, but I recently fell out of love with cosplay so to speak. It's nothing personal against the community or the hobby itself, it's just not something I want to invest all of my time doing anymore. With that being said!  I still will continue to cosplay and attend ...
